The increased stocks of the BRS Vitória variety are influencing market dynamics in the São Francisco Valley. Notably, the seedless black grape was traded at an average of US$0.70/kg in June, showing a 23% decrease from the previous month. Although prices remain above production costs, they are approaching breakeven, putting pressure on growers' margins.
Cooler temperatures in consumer areas have weakened demand. Additionally, a surge in seedless white grape availability, particularly in the latter half of the month, further reduced consumption of this variety. White grapes continue to attract buyers due to their competitive pricing and steady demand.
During the week of July 7–11, the BRS Vitória variety experienced a price correction, averaging US$0.61/kg, an 11% increase. Market agents indicate that although competition may ease in July, seedless black grapes are expected to remain widely available. If demand does not improve or prices decline further, growers may face negative profit margins, prompting the need for continued vigilance across the sector.
