U.S. National Retail Report - Specialty Crops:

Summer produce ads dip as fruit prices climb

The calendar and the weather forecast agree, the Dog Days of summer have officially arrived for most of the nation.

Retailers this week tried to lure shoppers out into the heat by offering red-hot savings on summer favorites like stone fruit, grapes, berries, melons, tomatoes, summer squash, and bell peppers. With the 4th of July in the rearview mirror, back-to-school season is fast approaching, and some retailers have already started promoting school supplies and snacks to get parents in the shopping mindset.
