'China's vegetable capital'

Pakistan's ambassador visits Shouguang county

Pakistan's Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, recently visited Shandong province, culminating in a tour of Shouguang county, known as China's "vegetable capital." This visit was at the invitation of the local government. During his stay, Ambassador Hashmi attended the 25th China (Shouguang) International Vegetable Science and Technology Expo's opening ceremony, where he delivered remarks and explored the expo, including the Pakistan pavilion.

In his speech, Ambassador Hashmi highlighted the expo's contribution to global agricultural innovation and cooperation. He acknowledged Shouguang's role in vegetable production and its status as a center for advanced facility vegetables. Hashmi emphasized the China-Pakistan agricultural partnership's importance in bilateral relations, noting Pakistan's agricultural sector's contribution to its GDP and employment. He expressed Pakistan's eagerness to enhance agricultural productivity through collaboration with Chinese entities, outlining policies and frameworks conducive to cooperation.

The ambassador also mentioned the upcoming Food and Agri Expo in August 2024, where China will be the country of honor, as an important event for fostering further agricultural collaboration and exchange. His discussions with Shouguang's municipal leaders focused on investment opportunities and joint ventures to strengthen bilateral ties. Moreover, Hashmi's visits to agricultural demonstration bases in Shouguang underscored the potential for collaboration and knowledge exchange between Pakistan and China in agriculture.
