Cocaine found at Port of Beirut in banana shipment from Ecuador

The Port of Beirut was the site of a significant drug seizure, where over 25 kg of cocaine were discovered hidden within a banana shipment originating from Ecuador, according to the Internal Security Forces (ISF). The exact date of the seizure was not disclosed by the ISF. The operation was part of an investigation into an international smuggling network believed to be transporting large quantities of cocaine into Lebanon.

The drugs, valued at millions of dollars, were concealed within the metal structure of the container. Authorities are currently pursuing the arrest of individuals linked to this smuggling operation. This incident is part of a growing trend of drug concealment within food shipments in Lebanon, including recent discoveries of hashish in coffee bags and traditional foodstuff.
