In Pakistan, the cost of vegetables has seen a significant increase, impacting the affordability for the average buyer. Commission agents and traders at the Fruits and Vegetables Market have raised the prices of these commodities by between 20 and 100 percent.
This hike has placed additional strain on consumers, who are already grappling with inflation. Notably, the price of tomatoes has escalated from Rs 100 to Rs 200 per kilogram in anticipation of Ramadan. Similarly, onions have seen a price increase from Rs 120-150 to Rs 240 per kilogram. Potatoes, previously sold at Rs 40 per kilogram, are now priced between Rs 60 and Rs 70. Furthermore, the cost of garlic has risen from Rs 500-600 to Rs 650-800 per kilogram.
