Uzbekistan's export of fruits and vegetables has surged to 251,200 tons within the span of just two months, as per the data released by the Statistics Agency. The exports, valued at approximately $150 mln, mark an increase compared to the same period last year.
During the initial months of 2024, Uzbekistan reported a substantial increase in its fruit and vegetable exports, reaching 115,500 tons, marking a 1.9-fold growth. This development highlights Uzbekistan's expanding role in the global agricultural export arena.
The principal markets for Uzbekistan's agricultural exports were Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China, with these nations absorbing a major share of the exports. Notably, Pakistan was the leading importer, accounting for 26.6% of the exports, followed closely by Russia with 26.1%. Kazakhstan and China also played significant roles, holding 9.1% and 9% of the market shares, respectively.
This upsurge in exports has notably enhanced Uzbekistan's agricultural sector's contribution to its export economy, with fruits and vegetables making up 4.1% of the total exports during the period in question. The increase in export volume underscores Uzbekistan's competitive edge in the international market, supported by its advantageous climatic conditions and strategic location.
