Guillin Fresh Produce: innovations in fruit and vegetable packaging

Monoportions, eco-design and practicality

The world of fruit and vegetable packaging is undergoing a transformation, and the Guillin Group's Fresh produce business unit is leading the way by presenting innovative rPET, carton and hybrid solutions. 'We see,' reads a group note, 'a growing demand for convenience and sustainability with solutions that are convenient, environmentally friendly and fit the busy lives of modern consumers.

Innovations in rPET
The Guillin Group's Fruit and Vegetable Business Unit's Airlite pack is a tangible example of its commitment to sustainability. As of 2021, its design will eliminate the need for bubble wrap, thus reducing environmental impact. Not only is it sustainable, it is also highly practical for customers looking for a recyclable rPet packaging solution with a bottom design that is protective and cushioning during transport. Moreover, being made of rPet monomaterial, it is very convenient for consumers who do not have to remove the absorbent microbubble material.

"For on-the-go snack packs, Guillin offers the Securipack offering convenience without compromising on product quality. This new design is perfect for those who are always on the move and are looking for a practical and environmentally friendly snacking solution with a tamper-evident solution that offers a secure closure. Among other things,' the company note continues, 'it is also eco-responsible because, once broken, the safety button remains attached to the body of the pack. At the fair we will be showing a version that contains a fork for enjoying the product on the move." It can also be ordered with POP-certified R-pet material, i.e. also available with recyclable plastic with the @Prevented Ocean Plastic label, which involves the use of recycled plastic from developing countries that have not yet activated an effective recycling process.

New frontiers in carton packaging
Pokepack Air represents a breakthrough in packaging especially for blueberries and cherry tomatoes. These are round cardboard trays with holes at the bottom and in the rpet lid that allow optimal ventilation, ensuring longer storage. "It is our way of combining functionality, design and aesthetics thanks to the possibility of customising it and emphasising the producer's brand".

Maxipack Lid and Top Seal are the answer to the needs demanded by the market, especially for packaging table grapes, berries and cherry tomatoes in cardboard trays with rPet lidding or with heat-sealed film. "We want to offer flexibility to our customers because our aim is to provide cardboard options that are compatible with rPET models that also respond to the use of the same heat-sealing machines.

"Finally," says Mauro Salini, managing director Guillin Fresh Produce, "we cannot fail to mention our brand new customisable cardboard trays thanks to the collaboration of our cardboard unit Ciesse Paper, which has specialised in cardboard packaging for the fruit and vegetable market for more than 30 years, offering more than 500 models, 100 % customisable using the latest and fastest printing techniques.

"We will be present at the Fruit logistica fair in Berlin scheduled for 7 to 9 February and we invite you to visit our stand B51 - Hall 5.2 as it will be the perfect opportunity to discuss your specific needs and to help you meet them with our innovative proposals," concludes the note.
