Field management software helps growers cut operating costs

"After the outstanding performance of Egyptian agricultural producers and exporters in terms of production, prospecting, and opening up new markets, it's time to move on to the next stage, which is improving our quality and reducing our costs," an Egyptian citrus grower told FreshPlaza at the end of the previous season, an appeal that is resonating throughout the Egyptian agricultural sector. The need for quality assurance and cost reduction is all the more pressing in industries that require complex operations and a large workforce, such as the soft fruit and citrus industries, where Egypt is a global leader.

According to Hassan Fayed, CEO of Aydi Technologies, reducing operational costs is an imperative that can either reward or cancel out the considerable efforts made by growers: "In recent years, growers have excelled in their agronomic operations and in opening up export markets. Every day, they battle against the vagaries of climate and market fluctuations. However, we observe that many of them fail to properly manage other aspects of their operations, such as reducing operational costs, improving productivity, managing human resources, and other managerial aspects that are just as important as production. Some growers even unknowingly sell their crops at a loss, threatening the viability of their business".

"Our starting point is to offer growers a simple yet powerful tool to streamline operational processes in agriculture for growers and landowners, to reduce their operational costs and improve productivity. This is achieved through our Field Operations System, which provides growers with real-time visibility and graph analysis capabilities," continues Fayed. "The solution we offer is innovative and different from the solutions available on the market, as it is specifically designed for the realities and needs of growers around the world."

Fayed elaborates: "We have identified six pillars that are essential towards managing your field, and which are often the source of errors and budgetary holes. Our solution makes it possible to effectively monitor these costs, which are essential to decision-making, and then to smoothly and automatically execute the ensuing tasks. In concrete terms, our software enables:

  • Inventory management:
This module provides real-time alerts for low stock levels, ensuring the availability of needed items and timely replenishment. Customizable product inputs enable tailor-made stock categorization, while comprehensive tracking maintains clear visibility of stock levels. It also streamlines the management of fertilizer and pesticide application, enhancing the precision of agricultural resource use.
  • Workforce management:
Effectively allocating and tracking labor is a common challenge for farm managers, often leading to overstaffing in some areas and understaffing in others, resulting in unnecessary labor costs and lower productivity. Our software simplifies manpower allocation, enabling tasks to be planned and assigned with just a few clicks.
  • Field operational intelligence:
It provides real-time information on all field activities, from planting to irrigation, enabling clear oversight and eliminating guesswork, allowing growers to make informed decisions. It also harnesses the power of data, accessing intuitive graphs and historical analysis for smarter operational choices. With this type of visibility and cost/plot analysis, growers can gain unparalleled control of their field."
  • Record-keeping :
This guarantees secure, simplified data management. Our secure cloud platform centralizes all vital information, eliminating scattered files and the risk of data loss. Immediate access to essential data, whether historical files or important documents, makes decision-making more efficient.
  • Automated payroll:
It improves traditional processing by automating and simplifying payroll-related tasks. This innovative solution streamlines payroll processing, eliminating human error and time-consuming manual input. From time tracking to deductions, our field operating system ensures accurate and timely compensation for employees and contractors.
  • Fork to field traceability:
This is essential for elevating quality assurance and transparency in the food supply chain. Aydi enables producers to uphold destination market standards in terms of quality specifications, ensuring compliance with regulations and boosting consumer confidence. This traceability solution enhances consumer confidence by sharing the journey of their product, reinforcing brand integrity in an industry where transparency is essential.

"Aydi's field operating system has been very well received by Egyptian growers, which is a testament to the relevance of our offer," says Fayed. "It can be used by a wide range of user profiles, even those without advanced IT skills or their own IT teams."

Aydi Technologies has announced its participation at Fruit Logistica, where it will present an information session entitled "Reducing Field and Packhouse Operating Costs through Technology. "Fayed concludes, "We are thrilled to be taking part in the exhibition and meeting growers, who can find us throughout the exhibition in Booth D-31 in Hall 3."
