Ukraine is renowned for its fruit orchards, with the "Uman Fruit Company" holding a special place. Established in 2016, the orchard has steadily expanded to 21 hectares.
Despite wartime conditions, the orchard continues to expand its production volumes, showcasing resilience and adaptability. From 2018, when the first industrial harvest was gathered, to 2023, production increased from 900 kg to 151 tons.
A key development focus is experimenting with various sweet cherry varieties. Currently, the orchard cultivates varieties like Cordia, Regina, Tamara, Hertford, and others.
An innovative solution has been the adoption of the Drapeau cultivation system, borrowed from Swiss horticulturalists' experience.
Additionally, the company actively experiments with different pollinators, including Ukrainian and Dutch bees, to optimize pollination conditions and increase yields even in adverse weather.
However, challenges like labor shortages persist.
In recent years, the "Uman Fruit Company" has successfully marketed its harvest domestically and internationally, achieving high financial performance. The average selling price of sweet cherries reached 2.5 euros/kg, significantly higher than the previous year.
Overall, the "Ukrainian Fruit Company" stands resilient, symbolizing hope and prosperity for Ukrainian agriculture.
