Collaboration between giants in the fruit and shipping industry brought Chinese New Year gift to consumers

On January 20, 2024, a cargo ship full of Chilean cherries in cold storage arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Containers Dock after a sea journey of over 20,000 miles. Cherries symbolise good luck in China and also symbolized a successful maiden voyage for JWM, who are using chartered ships to transport Chilean cherries in 2024. The success again sets an example of a creative fruit trade mode between China and Chile.

Transportation of Chilean cherries after arrival in the port

While the cherry industry in Chile faces severe challenges amid the ever-changing weather patterns, JWM, who are committed to linking global core fruit resources, ensured that the quality products perfectly matched the demand in China's consumer market by leveraging its own advantage of direct purchase. They are also integrating premium supplies, and coordinating with and linking several sections in the upstream and downstream, such as picking, sorting, full container loading, cross-border transportation, and domestic distribution.

With its powerful operation in the whole industry supply chain, JWM ensures that premium Chilean cherries arrived in China on time for the celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Dragon, manifesting JWM's professional operation and service in global procurement, optimized international supply chain, and nationwide fruit distribution channels.

What's worth mentioning is that JWM has further cemented its leading position in the industry through joint efforts and coordination in international logistics and digitization. In close cooperation with Maersk, a global giant in sea transportation, a "direct route from Chile to China" has been customized to deliver Chilean cherries to Chinese customers via a shortened logistics chain.

To ensure the stability of the quality of the cherries, they have been refrigerated throughout the journey from the producers in Chile to the consumers in China by keeping cold storage across the vessel, intelligently controlling the temperature, and directly transporting cherries to stores after containers arrive in the port. All these efforts have been made to ensure that, come the spring festival, Chinese consumers can enjoy Chilean cherries that are as fresh and juicy as they are on the trees.

To enhance and lead the cooperation in logistics development for fruits trade between China and Chile, JWM, a leader in the fruit industry, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Maersk Group, a giant in sea transportation, to combine JWM's advantages in fruit resources with Maersk's advantages in logistics.

In the future, the two parties will work together to innovate the fruit trade model, build up logistical advantages in emerging global fruit markets, and establish a more efficient, convenient, and intelligent international cold chain transportation system that facilitates the development of global fruit trade.

Strategic cooperation agreement between JWM and Maersk

In recent years, observing the market trend in which cherries emerge as a must during spring festivals, JWM created a widely popular high-end cherry brand-Joyvio Cherry and linked the industry chain from producers to consumers by cooperating with downstream and upstream partners, entering into partnerships with core quality Chilean orchards, and setting up a mature logistics system covering charted flights, direct sea shipments, and sea-air transportation.

Moving forward, JWM will continue to coordinate with the upstream and downstream of the industry and build a more competitive international logistics chain to bring more fresh global fruits to Chinese consumers so that they can enjoy a healthy life with global fruits.
