New formats aiming to reduce food waste

Huercasa, the European leader in the production of ready-to-eat vegetables, will be at Fruit Logistica, where it will have the opportunity to showcase the health benefits of corn, which has been its flagship product for more than three decades.

Huercasa's boiled corn, which is sold in around 40 countries worldwide, is known for being a source of fiber, as well as for having a low fat and salt content. It is also a gluten-free food, which makes it suitable for any consumer. Huercasa highlights that a single cob of its boiled corn provides 20% of the recommended daily intake of fiber, which is found in plant foods and is an essential part of any diet.

Furthermore, the company remains fully involved in the field of environmental sustainability, with an outstanding zero waste policy that aims to reduce food waste.

In this regard, Huercasa will be presenting new formats for its corn on the cob and red beetroot, its most popular products, which aim to reduce food waste and move forward in terms of sustainability. "A new 250-gram corn package, with two half cobs, stands out the most, and there's also the double package with two 250-gram units. These are smaller formats that will make it easier to consume only what we need and reduce waste at home. There's also a more efficient handling of the raw materials, making it possible to use previously non-commercial sizes which are very attractive for a wide variety of consumers."

The Food Service division will also play a significant role at the fair, "providing quality, ease of use and the Huercasa guarantee applied to the specific needs of caterers and communities, and with formats and packaging adapted to their activities."
