US cherries exported to Taiwan will undergo enhanced border inspections

On December 25, 2023, Taiwan announced that US cherries exported to Taiwan will undergo enhanced border inspection (20 – 50 percent inspection rate) from April 1 until September 30, 2024. Enhanced border inspection is defined by TFDA as a rate of inspection from 20 to 50 percent.

The enhanced inspection protocol is due to the number of import violations incurred by US-origin cherries in calendar year 2023.
