Robots controlled by AI are revolutionising strawberry harvesting in the Czech Republic, showcasing a sustainable approach to agriculture with fewer resources and no chemical products. Fravebot, a robot deployed on the Raěček family farm in Brno, Czech Republic, monitors and harvests strawberries. However, managing and maintaining robots can become complex, prompting the integration of artificial intelligence (AI).
The journey of strawberries from tiny seeds in a greenhouse to sweet fruits on supermarket shelves involves numerous steps and manual labour. The Raecek farm employs two types of robots for more efficient and eco-friendly strawberry cultivation: Fravebot Scout for plant health monitoring and ripeness tracking, and Fravebot Harvestor for fruit harvesting. This division of labour optimises efficiency, as explained by Vratislav Benes, the chief designer of Fravebot.
