Scientists innovate organic gel, tripling the shelf life of fruits at room temperature

Scientists from Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) in Russia have developed a gel made of biopolymers that extends the shelf life of fruits at room temperature.

Tests on apples and mandarins showed a threefold increase in shelf life when using this special product.

The gel, composed entirely of organic materials, poses no threat to human health, and its residue can be easily washed off with water. Fruits can be treated with this solution during packaging or directly on the tree.

In the spring, researchers plan to test their innovation on carrots and berries.
