Saxony:

Cocaine worth 7.5 millon euros in banana shipment

At the Meissen fruit market, a considerable amount of drugs were found in banana boxes. On Whit Monday, May 19, company employees found bags containing a white powder between the fruits from South America.

Because it was suspected that these were narcotics, the company correctly reported the find to the police. For the sake of competence, the latter brought in Customs Investigation Office Dresden, which took over the investigations with active support of officials from the state police of Saxony.

In total, around 100 kgs of cocaine were seized from several banana boxes, from in between the bananas. This is the largest find of this type of drug in Saxony. The street value would have been at least 7.5 million euros. For tactical reasons, the press release had been delayed up until now.

The investigations of Customs Investigation Office Dresden are being continued, directed by the Dresden public prosecutor's office.
