Tunisia increases its fruit export by 47.9 percent

This year, Tunisia is seeing an enormous increase in Tunisian fruit export compared to 2013 figures. According to the Agriculture ministry of the country, fruit export increased by 47.9% quantity-wise, and 43.8% value-wise, compared to the same period in 2013. From the start of the season until July 7, 2014, the export volume was 27,884 tonnes (19,906 tonnes 2013) and the export value 39.5 million dinars (17.19 million Euro) (2013: 28.3 million dinars/12.32 million Euro). 

The main export products are watermelons and melons, representing 46% and 9% respectively of total summer fruit exports, followed by stonefruit (peaches, nectarines, plums and apricots), each representing 35% of the total export volume.
