Uzbekistan produced 2.1 m tonnes of vegetables and 782 400 tonnes of fruit in 2014

According to the data of Ministry of Economic Affairs, from January to June 2014 the agricultural business in Uzbekistan has produced 2.1 million tonnes of vegetables and 782 400 tonnes of fruit. The vegetables were grown on the area of 255 800 ha, potatoes – of 81 500 ha, cucurbit crops – of 57 100 ha.

New orchards have occupied 2400 ha, early-ripe fruit – 5600 ha, vines – 8900 ha. Another 10 000 hectares of orchards and vines have been reconstructed. New greenhouses built on 213500 ha of land.

The yields this year are as follows: 2.1 million tonnes of vegetables (an increase of 10% on last the year), 1.2 million tonnes of potatoes (an increase of 11.3%), 150 700 tonnes of cucurbit crops (11.1% increase), 782 400 tonnes of fruit (10.1% increase), 22 200 tonnes of grapes (12% increase).

For the period of January- June of the current year, 29 advanced refrigerating stores (with total holding capacity of 13 500 tones) have been built in Uzbekistan.
