Egypt exports 3.7 million tonnes of agricultural products to 25 countries
According to a report issued by the Egyptian Department of Plant Quarantine, from the Ministry of Agriculture, regarding the export of potatoes, citrus fruits and vegetables this season, the export of Egyptian potatoes to the EU countries and the Gulf has reached 673,000 tonnes, while citrus shipments amounted to 1,000,133 tonnes. The total volume of vegetables shipped has reached 1,000,033 tonnes. Fruit exports amounted to 855,000 tonnes, including 27,000 tonnes of strawberries and 71,000 tonnes of grapes.
Mohamed Refaat, Head of the Department of Plant Quarantine, stated that exports of citrus and potatoes have increased significantly this season, reaching nearly 25 countries.
He stressed that all products exported are free of any diseases, as they follow the strictest food safety standards, with samples being taken for analysis in the areas of packaging and shipping.
The head of the Department also stated that precautionary measures are taken to tighten control over all citrus exports to prevent the appearance of fruit flies.
