Reichenau-Gemüse invest 3.8 million in cooling facilities

Last week the official opening took place for Reichenau-Gemüse's new cooling facilities. The German corporation have invested 3.5 million Euro over the last year on refrigeration techniques and processing rooms. The growers association are now in possession of seven top quality cold rooms and extra room for up to five packaging lines. A new personnel building was also opened and in combination with the new cooling cells in the existing hall, cooling capacity has more than doubled.

With the new modern and environmentally friendly cooling techniques, 20-25% should be saved on energy use, explained cooperation director, John Bliestle. Developments in the organic sector, the widening of the assortment and focus on specialities such as tasty tomatoes and bio-organic tomatoes have, according to Bliestle, led to this step.

"It is and remains the central duty of the corporation and her management team to create optimum conditions for market growth. Thanks to the installation of these cooling facilities, we at Reichenau believe we will be able to deliver the highest quality salad vegetables and fruit to not only our partners, but especially our consumers. Daily fresh vegetables from the island is not just a slogan, but a promise to the consumer!" said Bliestle.
