A Canadian sustainable energy company is seeking an experienced grower for its 3.2 HA tomato greenhouse with a projected expansion of 18 HA in the next two years. This is a career defining opportunity for the right candidate.
Business information
Nexolia is rapidly expending utility company specialized in biomass thermal cogeneration, it generates green electricity that is sold to Hydro-Quebec under long term agreements. The Chapais project uses the residual thermal energy to heat its wholly owned greenhouse project. The greenhouse is brand new and equipped with top the line current technology and lighting.
Positions responsibilities
As greenhouse manager you will be responsible for the production as well as meeting the highest standard of quality of the product. To meet your objectives, you will be required to lead, motivate and train and manage your team in all the task needed to meet the set goals. You will be responsible to adjust the production to meet rentability of the project. As the greenhouse is a major employer in a small and somewhat remote northern community, the individual will be expected to possess good social skills and ability to maintain a respectful relationship with the residents. An excellent horticultural support system is available to assist the right candidate in his duties.
Key skills requirement
- Horticulture degree
- 10 years of experience as a grower
- Languages: English (C2), Spanish (B1) and French (B1)
- Team playing skills are essential
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledgeable of technological work environment
- Ambitious self-starter preferred
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Team player and collaborator with ability to work independently
- Desire to constantly keep improving professional skills
