Kyrgyzstan’s banana imports rise to 6,000 tons in 2025

In 2025, Kyrgyzstan's banana imports reached nearly 6,000 tons, surpassing the 2024 figure of 5.8 thousand tons, as per official foreign trade data.

Ecuador remains the predominant supplier, accounting for over 90% of Kyrgyzstan's banana imports in the first quarter of 2025. Imports from Ecuador totaled 5,397.3 tons, compared to 5,032.6 tons in the same period in 2024.

Notably, India emerged as a new source, contributing 41.8 tons of bananas for the first time. In contrast, Turkey, which supplied 73.5 tons in 2024, did not export any bananas to Kyrgyzstan in 2025.

There was a decline in banana imports from China, decreasing from 362.4 tons in 2024 to 163.8 tons in 2025. Similarly, imports from Russia dropped from 430.2 tons to 391.2 tons.
