The wholesale market was based in Düsseldorf for 80 years. At the beginning of this year, retailers moved into the City Docks in the Hülsen industrial park. City Dock Düsseldorf Hilden consists of 17 units, nine of which have been used by the Düsseldorf wholesale market as its central hub since the beginning of the year. "We feel very comfortable here. Everything is very functional; for example, goods can be moved directly from the cold store to the hall and loaded from there," says Hans Peter Deutschmann, managing director of Karl Klees Fruchtimport.
Hasan Atula has also settled in well with his fruit wholesale business in the new halls. He is glad that he made the move. Like Karl Klees Fruchtimport and fruit trader Berger & Tolls, Atula's company is part of the cooperative that has jointly leased the halls. Roland Tolls, CEO of Großmarkthallen Düsseldorf eG, is delighted with the new location and the "framework conditions, which, with their modern approach, will have a positive impact on our future business."
