Kashmir fruit market shut in protest over Pahalgam attack

The Kashmir Fruit Growers and Dealers Association (KFGDA) has announced the closure of all fruit markets across Kashmir. This action aligns with the valley-wide bandh to protest the killing of 26 civilians, mainly tourists, in a recent attack in Pahalgam.

Chairman Bashir Ahmed Basheer stated to Ziraat Times, "We strongly condemn the barbaric attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam. As a mark of protest and in solidarity with the grieving families, all fruit markets across Kashmir have been shut today."

Basheer urged the government to conduct a thorough and time-bound investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The closure affects vital trading hubs during the peak season for spring fruits, underscoring public response to the violence. Normally busy fruit markets in Sopore, Anantnag, Shopian, Baramulla, Pulwama, and Parimpora (Srinagar) appeared deserted.
