Pakistan exports 105,690 metric tons of citrus fruit in six months, earning $30.9 million

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has shared data in the National Assembly regarding citrus fruit exports over the past six months. From July to December 2024, Pakistan exported 105,690 metric tons of citrus fruits, generating $30.9 million in revenue.

Within this period, exports to Afghanistan were valued at $16.72 million. The UAE received citrus fruits worth $3.90 million, while $3.30 million worth was exported to Indonesia. A total of 25 countries, including the UK, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, and Belgium, imported citrus fruits from Pakistan.

Additionally, the minister provided details on the trade deficit over the past five years. The trade deficit was $23.16 billion in 2020, rising to $31.8 billion in 2021. In 2022, it escalated to $48.35 billion. However, the deficit decreased to $27.47 billion in 2023 and further declined to $24.11 billion in 2024.
