Saudi Arabia's date production reaches 1.9 million tons in 2023, led by Qassim region

The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) revealed that the total production of dates in the Kingdom for the year 2023 has increased to more than 1.9 million tons, noting that the number of palm trees in all regions has reached 37.1 million trees, including about 31.8 million fruit trees. The ministry pointed out that the Qassim region topped all regions of the Kingdom in the amount of date production of all varieties, with more than 578.1 thousand tons, in addition to the total number of palm trees, including fruit trees, whose number in the region exceeded 10.7 million trees.

According to MEWA's report on the total number of palm trees and fruit trees in the Kingdom for the year 2023, the Riyadh region ranked second in terms of the amount of date production, of more than 4,531 thousand tons, while the Madinah region came third, with more than 343 thousand tons, followed by the Eastern region with a production of more than 258.7 thousand tons. The Aseer region produced about 61 thousand tons, and Tabuk more than 55.6 thousand tons. The rest of the regions followed by producing varying quantities of different varieties of dates.

The total number of palm trees in various regions of the Kingdom was topped by the Qassim region with more than 10.7 million trees, including more than 9.7 million fruit trees, followed by the Riyadh region with more than 8 million trees, including more than 6.8 million fruit trees. The Madinah region exceeded the number of 8 million palm trees, including more than 6.4 million fruit trees, followed by the Eastern region with more than 4 million trees, including more than 3.9 million fruit trees, and followed by the different regions of the Kingdom, in the variation in the number of palm trees and fruit trees.
