Vietnam's agricultural, forestry, and fishery sectors have observed a 30% increase in exports to the EU. In response to the EU's draft regulation to adjust the Maximum Residue Level (MRL) for four pesticide active substances, Vietnam's agriculture sector is updating practices to comply. The regulation, effective from next February, necessitates adaptations across Vietnamese agricultural exports to the EU.
Ngo Xuan Nam from the Office of the Vietnam Sanitary and Phytosanitary Notification Authority highlighted the importance for local producers to align with the EU's market standards. Failure to comply could lead to violation warnings, impacting the reputation of Vietnamese exporters. Luong Ngoc Quang of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized the need for enterprises to stay informed on regulatory changes through dedicated information portals.
Efforts to meet the EU's stringent requirements include the adoption of organic farming practices over chemical fertilizers, as noted by Nguyen Trong Trung Dung of Yasaka Fruit Processing Company. These adjustments aim at ensuring Vietnamese agricultural products align with the EU's updated MRLs and broader market expectations. Vietnamese enterprises are actively revising production strategies to ensure compliance with the EU's regulatory framework, thereby safeguarding their market access.
