Jeny Ghiddi: "Apricots, peaches and nectarines available"

Berries introduced on top of stone fruit

For "Domenico Laghi", a historic trading business based in Forlì, the apricot, peach and nectarine campaign has started off well with good demand from both Italy and abroad. "Demand is lively but quantities are not very high, so there is no particular problem when it comes to selling and prices are more or less in line with expectations," explains the owner Jenny Ghiddi.

The packaging was redesigned a few months ago

The company works with both the big retail chain and wholesale markets. "Abroad, we work with Germany, Austria and Switzerland, which require summer fruit with continuity," confirms sales manager Mirco Zoffoli.

A lot of attention is paid to packaging, which must be "functional, appealing and able to grab the attention with bright colors that match the fruit." This year, the company introduced a new white and fuchsia design with the logo of the Passatore, a typical symbol of Romagna.

Berries have become available this year

In 2023, the company also started commercializing berries. "We involved a leading local producer who is already providing raspberries, and blueberries and blackberries will become available soon. We believe our clients can be interested in this products, although quantities are not high yet. Berries go from the fields to supermarkets in just 24 hours: they are harvested in the morning by operators, we collect them and ship them to platforms in the evening." They are available in the traditional 125 gram punnets.

"Quantities this year are lower than normal as there is a lot of cracking. This is particularly evident in cherries: we have never traded many volumes, but this year there nothing available as our local producers could not manage to salvage the production damaged by the flood."

"Our campaign will continue until the end of the summer, and we can guarantee both continuity and high-quality, as we package various products by hand."
