Co-chairman of Burnac Produce steps down

Burnac Produce Group announced a significant leadership change within the organization. After careful consideration and 16 years of dedicated service, Domenic Raso is stepping down from his role as co-chairman at the end of June.

Recognizing the importance of ongoing leadership and continuity, Raso has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Burnac Produce Group. His extensive knowledge, experience and strategic vision will continue to be a valuable asset in shaping the future direction of the organization. As a member of the Advisory Board, Raso will provide insight and guidance, contributing to the organization’s continued growth and success.

During his tenure as co-chairman, Raso was a driving force in the company. His leadership helped navigate it through challenging times and has played an integral role in its successes over the past 16 years.

Raso started his career as a produce manager at Fortinos in 1977. He worked his way through the organization into senior operations and produce roles before ascending to VP of procurement and merchandising in the mid-1990s. In 1999, Raso was asked to oversee Loblaw’s Procurement Division and did so with great success. In 2007, he was ready for another challenge and moved on to Burnac Produce as a co-chairman. During his tenure, he has served as a mentor to many members of its current leadership team members, demonstrating his experience, industry insights, merchandising knowledge and dedication to quality.

Raso has a plaque in his office that reads “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.” This is his mantra, and he executes all of his decisions with the end consumer in mind. Raso has an infectious passion for the produce industry, and as a people leader, he treats team members as his extended family. Anyone who has had the pleasure of working for and with Raso will recognize his honesty, modesty and integrity. Over the years, he has traveled the globe, in search of the best suppliers with the best products. He has developed long-lasting industry relationships and many suppliers consider him to be a close personal friend. Raso describes his tenure with the company as a collaborative effort, attributing the company’s successes to the grit, determination and hard work of the team around him.

The Burnac Produce Group wishes Raso every success, health and happiness as he moves on to the next chapter of his life. He plans to take some well-deserved time to enjoy travel and time with his family and friends. Burnac looks forward to working with him as he transitions to his new advisory role.
