Klaus Reinhard and Anasse Amarouche from A&R Fruchtimpex in Rosbach have been campaigning against food waste since the end of last year with the "Krumm-und-gut-Kiste" (crooked and good). A&R Fruchtimpex's main business is supplying retailers with fruit and vegetables in organic quality as well as selected conventional products. The food goes to private Edeka and Rewe stores or to Alnatura stores. B-grade goods with minor blemishes are often dispensed with. "This standard does not make it into the supermarket, but has no compromises in terms of quality," Reinhard told FNP.
Klaus Reinhard and Anasse Amarouche are together at the helm of A&R Fruchtimpex GmbH.
Until now, there was no sales channel for these Class 2 foods. This is how the idea of 'Krumm-und-gut-Kisten' came about. Reinhard: "On Tuesdays at the latest, we get told by our suppliers what products they have that are not suitable for food retailing." Then the boxes would be put together and their contents announced in the e-mail newsletter. There is no subscription. Instead, orders are placed via the contact form on the A&R Fruchtimpex website. Pickup is from the distribution partner, Naturlandhof Weber in Kaichen, or directly from the warehouse in Rosbach.
