The largest retail chain in Russia, "Magnit" plans to increase imports from Uzbekistan to 64,350,000 euros by 2023

Russia will increase imports of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan in 2023

The majority of the import are fruits and vegetables that are not grown in Russia or are limited in supply due to climate conditions and seasonality.

The largest shares of imports are grapes (39%), persimmons (15%), and stone fruits (11%). Typically, the peak of fruit and vegetable imports from Uzbekistan occurs in October and November.

A significant portion of imports also occurs during the summer months for stone fruits (sweet cherries, nectarines, peaches, plums) and melons, as well as the beginning of the grape ripening season.

“We continue to develop the import of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to increase the supply on the shelves of Russian stores during the off-season”, said Andrey Bodrov, Director of Strategy, Investment, and Business Development of the “Magnit” retail chain.
