Turkish suppliers plan to increase tomato shipments to Russia

Turkish news agencies have reported on Russia's decision to increase imports of Turkish tomatoes, citing Hayrettin Uçak, president of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association.

"We expect the resumption of tomato exports to Russia, and Russia will again become the main export market," said the head of the association.

For many years, Russia has been the main export market for Turkish manufacturers, but the introduction of quotas has reduced export volumes. In 2021, Turkish tomato exports to Russia amounted to US$68 million, but only US$33 million in 2022.
