The fruit and berry market in Russia has the potential to increase by almost 70%

A recent report by "Interagro" reveals that the fruit and berry market in Russia has the potential to increase by almost 70%, reaching 14.6 million tons annually. The research suggests that the country's current consumption of fruits and berries is significantly lower than the recommended daily consumption levels by the Ministry of Health, with an average of 63 kg per person per year.

The report highlights the apple and strawberry markets, along with cherries and plums, as having the most potential for development and sales within Russia. Several investments are underway in raw material production and processing, including a year-round raspberry greenhouse complex producing up to 100 tons of berries annually and developing apple processing capabilities by 2025. A new plant for the shock freezing and drying of fruits and berries is also.

Despite a steady increase in domestic production, Russia remains largely dependent on imports, leaving ample opportunities for expansion in the fruit and berry market.
