The Port of Philadelphia continues to grow its portfolio of services. On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, PhilaPort welcomed the maiden call of a new ocean liner service to its Packer Avenue Marine Terminal. PhilaPort, along with terminal operator Holt Logistics, welcomed M/V EM SPETSES as part of ZIM Integrated Shipping Services’ “ZIM Colibri Xpress (ZCX)” service.
ZCX provides a quick weekly connection between the US East Coast and the West Coast of South America with a focus on refrigerated cargo and competitive transit times to ports throughout the region.
It is no secret PhilaPort is the leader in trade with South America and this new service will only make it better. ZCX will operate on the following rotation: San Antonio (Chile), Callao (Peru), Guayaquil (Ecuador) – Cartagena (Colombia) – Kingston (Jamaica) – Philadelphia – Miami, Kingston (Jamaica)- Buenaventura (Colombia – Guayaquil (Ecuador) – Callao (Peru) – San Antonio (Chile).
The new ZIM Colibri Xpress (ZCX) service
ZIM is pleased to share an upgraded service of 6 X 1,700 TEU vessels, offering our customers a wide range of advantages:
- Line operated with smaller than usual vessels for this trade allowing us to avoid most of the port congestion in WCSA and USEC.
- Line operated 100% by ZIM.

- Outstanding Wayport (Intra WCSA) connectivity offering transit times as short as 2 days between the main countries in this trade.
- Highly competitive for the reefer markets from Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia to the USEC.
- Line offers the fastest transit time in the market from West Coast South America to Philadelphia, PA and very competitive transit to the rest of the USEC ports.
- Line offers a connection with best in class transit time from Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico (Atlantic side) to Philadelphia, PA and very competitive transit to the rest of the USEC ports.
