Hydro Hunters carries out subsoil scans

The frenzied search for wells to obtain irrigation water

Drought continues to be a problem in northern Italy, where rivers and reservoirs have reached minimum levels, already almost as bad as  last summer. The rainfall in winter and these first few spring months has been so low that irrigation cannot be assured. Applications for wells have increased again, but companies want to make sure to find a suitable quantity of water before drilling.

Vincenzo Orso from HydroHunter Italia, a company dealing with water scans in the subsoil, explains that "the drought continues to get worse and forces us to work at a hectic pace. The situation may even get worse when southern Italy, which has seen abundant rainfall so far, will start asking us for scans. Everybody is looking for immediate solutions to deal with the lack of water."

"Many get in touch only after drilling, without knowing that it is better to first assess whether there are indeed aquifers capable of providing enough volumes."

Thanks to innovative air and land systems that work using electromagnetic waves, Hydro Hunter Italia is able to tell clients whether it is worth to drill or not. "Our tools, which are patented and recognized by the Italian state, are based on scientific sources. Our activity started 20 years ago and, while we could scan up to 60 m deep when we started, we can now scan between 240 and 1,500 m."

Up until mid-May, Hydro Hunter Italia will apply a 20% discount to encourage entrepreneurs to carry out scans before the summer.
