EU orange tree orchard area has dropped from 314,400 to 261,900 ha

According to Eurostat crop production annual data, between 2000 and 2022, the EU orange tree orchard area has dropped from 314,400 to 261,900 ha. Italy in particular, saw a drop from 108,700 to 70,400 ha.

EU production of oranges, meanwhile, remained fairly steady, coming in at 5.771 thousand tonnes in 2000, and standing at  5.753 thousand tonnes in 2022.
