Michoacan's lemon production skyrocketed in the first quarter of the year

According to data from the Agrifood and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP), the state of Michoacan produced 192,157 tons of lemon between January and March, i.e. 72% more than the 111,854 tons it produced in the same period of 2022. With this volume, Michoacan continues to be the country's second-biggest lemon-producing entity, only behind Veracruz, which harvested 274,771 tons, according to SIAP information.

At the state level, the municipalities of Buenavista and Apatzingan lead Michoacan's lemon supply with 61,000 and 43,000 tons, respectively. They were followed by Mugica with just over 27,000 tons, according to the information presented this week by the Agri-Food Information Service.

Mexico is the world's second-biggest producer of lemon with more than 2,500,000 tons, after India with almost 3 million tons.
