The International Blueberry Seminar will be held on September 13 and 14 at the Agadir Conference and Meeting Center

International blueberry industry to meet in Agadir in September

The blueberry industry, besides being one of the newest in the international fruit market, is one of the most global. It is an industry that stands out for permanent development in all areas and its quick adaptation to technological change. In fact, farms have been abandoning the use of soil and the fruit is grown on inert substrates, in the framework of sustainable and precision agriculture.

We are talking about a pragmatic, sustainable and profitable industry, which has successfully overcome the challenges that have arisen as a result of the pandemic, economics, war or climate change, among other threats.

Blueberries Consulting
There are many factors behind this successful phenomenon, although there are predominant elements to highlight, such as communications and training, which explain the amazing achievements of the blueberry industry around the world.

In this area, the international consulting firm Blueberries Consulting is responsible for several communication tools that have significantly contributed to the development of the blueberry industry, including the International Blueberry Seminars, which started to be held a decade ago in Chile and are currently spread over three continents, aiming to have presence in the 10 main blueberry-producing countries by 2025, including Morocco.

International Seminar in Agadir
The Blueberries International Seminars have made it possible to disseminate information and knowledge about blueberry cultivation to different countries and regions across the world, which, as a result, have been adopting blueberry production in a professional manner, turning the blueberry industry into a global and competitive reality.

Previously, in June 2022, the Blueberries Consulting International Seminar was held in Casablanca, in the premises of the Hyatt Regency Casablanca, and it turned out to be a very good experience for the Moroccan blueberry industry. However, mainly at the request of Moroccan producers, this year it will be held in the premises of the Conference and Meeting Center of Agadir in September 13 and 14, with a program that, during its two days, will cover the most important aspects of blueberry production and marketing.

Agadir, a business hub
The seminar has the support of the Moroccan Association of Berry Producers (Ampfr) and its president, Amine Bennani, as well as that of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Agadir (CCIS), headed by its president Said Dor. It has also been sponsored by the main international companies devoted to the cultivation of berries, some of which have already confirmed their participation. The list of participants includes UNITEC, Maf Roda, A&B Packaging, Pasquini & Bini, Projar, Elifab, San San, Fibre Dust LLC, Encipharm, iFoods, FD Berries, Ecofos, Viveros Sunnyridge, and BlueMagazine, among others.

According to plan, the Agadir International Blueberry Seminar will bring together important leaders of the international blueberry industry, entrepreneurs and investors seeking to participate in the Moroccan industry, producers from various countries and more than 50 international companies. Agadir is thus turning into a major business hub for the blueberry industry.

Why Morocco?
Morocco is quickly becoming a leader in the global blueberry industry, not only because of its growing presence in the European markets, but also because of the quality of its fruit, which is internationally appreciated by the most demanding consumers.

But the main factor that defines Morocco as an indispensable player for the global blueberry industry is the high speed of its growth, which has remained sustained in recent years. The acreage has already reached 4,000 hectares and is permanently expanding in a range between 200 and 400 hectares each year, with new and modern production projects.

These latest figures indicate a significant annual growth rate, since according to the Moroccan blueberry industry's records for the last few years, until 2015 the growth of the area planted with blueberries was only of 50 hectares per year.

Why Agadir?
There are approximately 3,000 hectares planted with blueberries and raspberries in Agadir. All blueberry crops are cultivated with hors-sol (pot) management systems and there are many more technicians than in other areas of Morocco, so the demand for information and knowledge regarding the crop's agronomic, technological and commercial aspects is much higher.

In summary, there are many reasons to meet in Agadir on September 13 and 14, 2023 and participate in the 28th International Blueberry Seminar of Morocco, the most important blueberry event in the country, where the main players of the Moroccan industry will meet. Moreover, there will be networking activities allowing attendees and sponsors to interact.
