These days traceability is everything, whether it’s for the end customer to see the provenance of the product or to get right back to the source if there are health issues. Further, what producer, packer, or supplier would not want to have every cost in the whole process from field to shelf itemized in one easy program?
In a recent collaboration, Australian companies Tie Up Farming and GV Custom Software did just that for Australian fruit grower and packer Pomona Valley Pty Ltd.
Pomona used both companies: Tie Up Farming for the horticultural side, the company’s modules monitor everything from spraying to labor costs, while GV Custom Software tracks the produce lifecycle throughout the packhouse and on to the shipper or retailer.
When Pomona formed, amalgamating numerous packhouses and orchards, they needed a solution that didn’t require fruit coming into the packhouse to be reticketed, just utilized within a different system.
“We got together with Tie Up to discuss how we could integrate the systems, and it was actually pretty easy,” said Connor Gray, Director at GV Custom Software. “Tie Up creates a file with the day’s picking data which can be imported into our system to give stock information, all happening without any human intervention. If any issues are flagged, users are notified, and they can easily be fixed.”
“The system can give the customer full traceability as well as profit and loss from the field to the final customer,” explains Roei Yaakobi, CEO at Tie UP Farming. “It also saves the customer money in that they do not have to pay workers to reticket bins from different systems.”
