Favorable weather during the pollination period has set the stage for a high-quality table grape harvest in Moldova this season, according to growers and industry experts.
As of late June, producers report that grape clusters are well-formed, with uniform and relatively large berries. Sergei Tutovan, head of the Table Grape Producers Association of the Cahul region, noted that even early varieties prone to berry shatter, such as "Codreanca", are showing strong potential. The late-season "Moldova" variety, which dominates the country's exports, is reportedly developing exceptionally well, even in vineyards without irrigation.
Growers are also encouraged by the fact that current weather conditions are not conducive to the spread of vineyard diseases. However, agricultural specialists are advising producers to carry out preventive treatments using systemic fungicides to protect the crop as the season progresses.
Earlier, experts cited by Logos Press predicted that Moldova could achieve one of its best grape harvests in the past five years, potentially exceeding 100,000 tonnes of table grapes in 2025.
