Xinjiang’s Jiuding market moves 5,000 tons daily to stabilize fruit and vegetable supply

Xinjiang's Jiuding Agricultural Products Wholesale Market continues to play a pivotal role in maintaining stable supply and prices amid the peak summer trading season, reports China News. The market, operating at full capacity from early morning, handles an average of 5,000 tons of fruits and vegetables daily.

With local harvests not yet in full swing, much of the produce currently comes from regions such as Yunnan, Guangdong, and Sichuan, before being distributed across Xinjiang and into Central Asia. Jiuding Market's dual supply model, combining local and external sourcing, allows for year-round stability. During winter, shipments from outside Xinjiang dominate the supply.

The market covers 1,040 acres, supports over 5,000 merchants, and processes more than one million tons annually. Traders like Guo Lianying, who has been in the business for over 30 years, have expanded sales beyond China's borders, shipping vegetables like radishes to Central Asian markets.

In the fruit section, a wide range of both domestic and imported varieties are available. Local apricots and melons are sold alongside lychees from Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan. Premium seedless lychees require air freight to maintain quality. The market also offers Southeast Asian mangosteens, South American cherries, and Yunnan blueberries.

Market management plans to further integrate logistics, reduce transportation costs, and continue supporting regional supply security and price stability.
