Tripura ships 1200 Queen pineapples to New Delhi

A shipment containing 1200 Queen variety pineapples from Taidu in Tripura's Teliamura sub-division has been dispatched to New Delhi. The transaction was managed by Thansa Organic Producer Company Ltd., selling the organic pineapples to One India Organic, New Delhi. This coordination was facilitated by SIMFED under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region, Phase IV.

To aid pineapple growers in the Ampi block, SIMFED engaged with One India Organic to support Thansa Organic Producer. This partnership enabled the collection of pineapples from Tuidu under the Ampi Nagar Block.

The consignment's journey commenced from the Agartala railway station. "To avail profitable benefits for local pineapple producers, Thansa Organic Producer LTD has taken this initiative through SIMFED," sources stated.

Local farmers report that while a Queen pineapple sells for Rs. 20 (US$0.24) in local markets, the export arrangement fetches them Rs. 30 (US$0.36) per piece. Representatives like Chayanika Bhowmik, project in-charge of SIMFED, and Nibash Debbarma, Superintendent of Agriculture, Ampi agri sub-division, were present for the event, along with other officials.
