Bungling banana bandit busted

Ashley Asquith, 42, from Bradford, robbed a post office with a banana wrapped in a plastic bag, pretending it was a gun. He shouted "empty the till" and escaped with over £6,000—still missing. CCTV confirmed the fruity weapon, and the court accepted his explanation. A shop worker was so traumatised, they haven't returned. Asquith blamed his actions on lung disease, job loss, alcohol, and Class A drugs. He pleaded guilty to robbery and possessing an imitation firearm. The judge noted the banana looked "realistic". He's now peeling away 3 years and 4 months behind bars.
