García Ballester consolidates its recovery and maintains record figures for the second year in a row

The García Ballester group, one of the main citrus operators in Castellón, has strengthened its recovery after the setback suffered two campaigns ago. Based in Burriana, the company closed the 2023-2024 financial year with a turnover of 38 million euros, 34% more than in the previous season, and profits of 1.07 million euros, according to its latest accounts. In the 2024-2025 season, the group maintained similar business figures, comfortably exceeding the levels of the 2021-2022 season.

García Ballester specializes in producing, marketing, and exporting citrus fruits. Two years ago, a drop in production in the province of Castellón reduced the company's income to 28.5 million. Production rebounded in the 2023-2024 season, reactivating sales and improving profitability. The workforce increased from 241 to 265 workers, with a balanced distribution between warehouse and field staff.

According to Jorge García, president of the company, the improvement in results is due to the recovery in local production and the company's strategy of diversifying markets and activities. This helped mitigate the impact of the commodity crisis and the adjustment of margins caused by the conflict in Ukraine. The company conducted a financial reorganization, separating the marketing and production areas, to reinforce its operational efficiency.

The positive trend continues this season, as the harvest in Castellón surpassed the Ministry of Agriculture's forecast. In its economic report, the company anticipates stable results in the medium term, despite global uncertainties.
