Kazakhstan's Turkistan region may soon see the launch of large-scale garlic processing operations. Representatives of China's Wanglin Group, a global leader in garlic production, recently met with a Kazakh delegation in China to discuss potential investment and cooperation.
Discussions focused on joint projects involving garlic cultivation and processing in the region. The Chinese company highlighted the favorable agro-climatic conditions in Turkistan and expressed interest in investing in processing facilities and export infrastructure.
According to the regional administration, both sides agreed to work toward creating an agro-industrial cluster, expanding garlic production, signing long-term supply contracts with local farmers, and exporting finished products to international markets.
The Kazakh delegation toured Wanglin's industrial garlic processing sites, storage facilities, and logistics systems, as well as its center for global garlic price regulation.
Wanglin Group has over 20 years of experience in garlic cultivation and processing, including freezing, drying, storage, and pharmaceutical-grade production. The company manages 500,000 hectares of garlic farmland and processes around 8 million tons annually. Its garlic exports are valued at $4 billion, and storage capacity exceeds 4.8 million tons.
