Hort Innovation has entered into a six-year agreement to serve as the Principal Convention Partner of Hort Connections until 2031. The partnership aims to support ongoing development within the Australian horticulture industry through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and showcasing investments in innovation.
Hort Connections, which opened today in Brisbane, is organised by Ausveg and the International Fresh Produce Association Australia-New Zealand (IFPA ANZ). The event brings together stakeholders from across the fresh produce supply chain and features presentations, exhibits, and networking opportunities.
Brett Fifield, CEO of Hort Innovation, said the organisation is expanding its involvement in Hort Connections to support information exchange and leadership development in the sector.
"Hort Connections provides a forum for growers and other industry participants to discuss sector-wide challenges and share outcomes from research, development, and marketing initiatives funded through grower levies," Fifield said.
This year's event includes a three-day program featuring speakers from across the supply chain, industry booths, and related activities aimed at supporting professional and industry development.
Ausveg CEO Michael Coote stated that the renewed partnership would help maintain the event's focus on innovation and the practical application of research to address challenges in the sector.
"Hort Innovation's continued investment in research and development supports the long-term viability of the horticulture industry, and this agreement ensures Hort Connections remains a venue for presenting outcomes and engaging growers," Coote said.
Belinda Wilson, Managing Director of IFPA ANZ, noted the agreement strengthens collaboration between industry organisations and supports broader goals for innovation and capability-building within Australia's horticultural supply chain.
