UAV strike destroys major potato storage site in Ukraine

In an event impacting the agricultural landscape, a vegetable storehouse in Ukraine's Chernihiv region was destroyed. The attack, involving UAVs and missiles on May 25, damaged facilities belonging to "Agriko Ukraine." This incident, noted by Agronews, may influence market dynamics for produce storage and supply.

The facilities affected include a potato storage unit equipped with specialized machinery, a sorting workshop, and additional storage zones. The grain warehouse and an adjoining canopy were also impacted. Initial assessments report damages surpassing 50 million UAH ($1.25 million), exceeding 1 million euros.

Agriko Ukraine's director, Mykola Hordiychuk, detailed the extent of the destruction, stating, "The production stocks that were in the storage facility were completely destroyed. The agricultural machinery was damaged by the shockwave: Tractors, planters, a Manitou loader, and much more. The equipment is partially destroyed, partially damaged."

Agriko Ukraine is a major player in the potato seed sector in Ukraine, controlling over 50% of the market share. The enterprise imports and cultivates seed material sourced from the Netherlands, distributed across two primary farms located in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. These sites span over 150 hectares and incorporate storage facilities with advanced sorting and packaging lines, doubling as training venues for industrial producers.
