According to FAOSTAT data analyzed by Hortoinfo, in 2023, Turkey overtook Spain in cucumber sales. In 2021 and 2022, despite having a smaller harvest, the value of Spanish sales was higher.
Values are expressed in U.S. dollars and were converted to euros for ease of comparison. In 2023, the exchange rate stood at 0.924 euros to the dollar. In previous years, exchange rates varied, standing at 0.754 euros/dollar in 2014 and 0.951 euros/dollar in 2022.
On a global scale, China is firmly in the lead, with a production value of 49,469.02 million euros in 2023. Russia follows with 1,990.71 million euros, and Ukraine ranked third with 1,066.12 million euros.
In 2023, Turkey ranked sixth with a harvest worth 827.8 million euros, surpassing Spain, which ranked seventh with 683.54 million euros. The Netherlands ranked twelfth with 292.37 million euros. Morocco is not among the top 20, with a production value of 24 million euros.
