Prabowo seeks Australian support for fruit exports

President Prabowo Subianto aims to align Indonesian fruit products with international standards for the Australian market. During a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on May 15, 2025, Prabowo expressed interest in involving Australia to enhance the capabilities of Indonesian farmers and SME entrepreneurs, reports Tempo.

Prabowo stated, "We will also work to ensure that Indonesian fruits meet international market standards, including Australia's." The discussion included potential cooperation in food security and agricultural industry collaboration.

Prabowo emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration amid global economic uncertainty. "In a time of global economic uncertainty, the relationship between Australia and Indonesia is becoming increasingly important. It will bring more benefits to our two countries and our people," he noted.

The meeting marked Albanese's first foreign official visit following his re-election. Prabowo personally greeted Albanese at the palace, introducing him to the Red and White Cabinet members, which included key ministers such as Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and others.
