Between April 30 and May 11, 2025, officials from the Ural Interregional Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor, together with the FSB Border Service and Chelyabinsk Customs, prevented the import of several shipments of plant-based goods at the Bugristoye multilateral checkpoint on the Russian-Kazakh border.
From April 30 to May 5, five shipments of fresh white cabbage weighing 101 tonnes were returned to Kazakhstan. The produce, destined for the Moscow region, was transported partly in bulk and had incomplete labeling, both violations of international phytosanitary regulations. All five carriers were charged with administrative offenses.
From May 5 to 11, three more shipments were denied entry. Two of them, totaling 41 tonnes of white cabbage, were also transported in bulk and intended for recipients in Sverdlovsk Oblast. The third shipment, 15.3 tonnes of fresh mango from China en route to Yekaterinburg, was blocked due to discrepancies between the phytosanitary certificate and accompanying shipping documents.
All non-compliant products were returned to the country of origin.
