Sorma Group, a manufacturer of post-harvest solutions for fruit and vegetable products, will participate in Macfrut, the international fruit and vegetable trade fair, taking place from 6 to 8 May in Rimini, Italy. The company will present a range of technologies covering the entire post-harvest process from reception to palletization, with a focus on apples and citrus.
Among the systems on display will be Aporo, a multi-head robotic packaging system designed to place up to eight pieces of fruit simultaneously into pockets while maintaining uniform orientation and presenting the most visually appealing side. Developed for gentle product handling, Aporo is adaptable to various fruits, including apples, peaches, nectarines, plums, and kiwis. It also enables direct packaging into cartons with pre-inserted pockets.
Sorma Group will also present Hypervision, an optical sorting platform equipped with nine cameras per line and 360° hyperspectral imaging technology. Capable of processing up to 15 fruits per second per line, Hypervision integrates deep learning algorithms through its InstanDefect-AI software to improve ripeness and defect detection. The sorter operates on a Linux-based software platform, offering cybersecurity features and scalability.
According to Alberto Agostini, Area Manager at Sorma Group, the company is developing an integrated post-harvest line for apples, from tipping to palletization, through its French subsidiary SORMAF.
In the citrus segment, Sorma will exhibit the WD4-S Weigher and the CBR-170S Packager. The WD4-S is designed for high-speed weighing, supplying up to four packing machines and handling variable calibres, with ten model variations available.
The CBR-170S Packager has been updated for improved speed and precision. Technical changes include a new band-centring system, revised suction and bellows mechanisms for bag creation and filling, and updated sealing components. The machine uses larger woven net rolls—up to 3,500 meters—to reduce operational downtime. It is controlled via a microprocessor and a touch-screen interface, offering options such as carrying handles and thermal transfer printing.
Sorma's participation at Macfrut reflects broader industry trends toward automation, efficiency, and sustainability in fruit and vegetable post-harvest handling.
